(NEWS CENTER) -- Voters in several Maine cities will elect mayors on Tuesday. There are contested races in Auburn, Biddeford, Hallowell, Lewiston, Saco and Westbrook.
In Auburn, John Jenkins is not running for re-election. Jenkins actually didn't run last time, either, but won as a write-in candidate. Jenkins say he is humbled and honored by the fact that some people would like him to remain in office, but he says, "It's time for new leadership, time to give others a chance to serve in that position." Richard Gleason and Ronald Potvin are vying for the seat this time around. Bruce Chuluda is seeking his fourth term as mayor of Westbrook, while Joanne Twomey is running for a second term in Biddeford. Lewiston Mayor Laurent Gilbert is being challenged by City Councilor Mark Paradis. And in Saco, Roland Michaud is running for a second term term against Ronald Morton, a long-time member of the city council.
