SOUTH PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- Saturday was Howl-o-ween for dogs and their owners at Willard Beach in South Portland. Members of the South Portland Dog Owners Club spent two hours cleaning up the beach, picking up trash and disposed of debris that had washed up on the sand. It was also a chance for dog owners to campaign on the Willard Beach question coming to a vote on Tuesday. A proposed ban would call for dog owners to keep their animals off the beach in the summer. The group, Share Willard Beach, said the two hours currently allowed for dog owners in the morning and the evening is fair, and a further restriction is unnecessary. They wrapped up this morning's project with a costume party for dogs and their owners who like to use the beach.
