Standish (NEWS CENTER)--A man suspected of driving erratically led police on a chase through several towns before spinning out Saturday.

The chase began on Ossipee Trail near the Gorham/Standish line.  Police say a Gorham officer gave chase when Scott Hayes of Westbrook refused to stop. At one point the chase hit speeds of 85 miles per hour.

The pursuit continued through Buxton to Route 112 and then Route 35. Just before Haye's  car reached the intersection of Bonny Eagle Road and Chicopee Road in Standish the car spun out in a soft shoulder. Police say Hayes rammed two cruisers trying to get away. He was arrested after a brief struggle. Hayes is charged with driving under the influence, reckless conduct, eluding an officer and aggravated criminal mischief.

No one was hurt.
