Durham, N.H. (NEWS CENTER) -- New England herring and shrimp fisherman will be fighting for their livelihoods Monday.
They say new restrictions and regulations have made it tougher for them to make a living, and bad weather this year has kept catch rates down. On Monday, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission is holding a conference call to decide if there should be an adjustment in the number of fishing days allowed.
On Thursday a meeting will be held in Portland at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute to set dates for the upcoming shrimp season.
