Boothbay Harbor Native Is Maine Lobster Chef Of The Year

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- A 22-year-old culinary school graduate is the new Maine lobster chef of the year. Mackenzie Arrington bested two other chefs during a cook off on Portland's waterfront. The competition took place during Harvest on the Harbor, a three day food and wine festival.

Arrington, who grew up in Boothbay Harbor, won $1,000 for his dish of roasted lobster tail on braised cabbage and cornbread.

NEWS CENTER's Kathleen Shannon emceed the sold out event which drew more than 200 people. The crowd watch each chef prepare their recipes and then voted for their favorite. Cooking is in Arrington's blood, his mother Margaret McLellan is a chef and won the competition last year.

The competition's runner's up are chef Melissa Bouchard from Dimillo's Floating Restaurant in Portland and Rick Skoglund, chef at Samoset Resourt in Rockland.
