LEBANON (NEWS CENTER) - A walk in the woods for a mother and daughter from Lebanon, Maine tunred into a seven hour ordeal.

A 51 year old woman called state police around 8:20 Tuesday night, reporting that she and her 16 year old daughter and their dog were lost in the woods.

Since the call came in through 911, emergency responders were able to get the coordinates by tracking the woman's cell phone.

They were tracked to the woods between Upper Middle Road and Smith Road. Rescue crews were brought in to find the women.. but they could not get to them because of a small river.

A lifeflight helicopter was brought in to use night vision goggles to track the women down.

All the while, the women remained on their cell phone, in touch with responders. They were eventually spotted and rescued by 11 pm. They had set out on their walk at 4 in the evening.

Both women had minor injuries to their knees and were wearing wet clothing. They were treated at the scene and released.

Rescue crews tell us the mother and daughter had just taken an outdoor survival class, as well.
