WISCASSET (NEWS CENTER) -- Low income people in Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties have a new place to go for home energy help. The Kennebec Valley Community Action Program has taken over weatherization, fuel assistance and other energy programs for the two counties.

The agency has been running the same programs for decades in Kennebec and Somerset counties. The programs for the coastal counties ran into problems last year and had to be taken over last year by the Maine State Housing Authority. KVCAP leaders say they have a lot of experience with those programs.

The agency has a new office in downtown Wiscasset. Officials say they plan to take many of the applications at town offices, because they believe it's the best way to reach people.
