BRUNSWICK (NEWS CENTER) -- More than a hundred people are losing their jobs in Brunswick.
Employees are Cooper Wiring Devices were told last week that their plant will be shut down within a year. At its peak, nearly 200 people worked at the facility.
The plant is owned by Cooper Industries. In a statement, the company blames the shutdown on the continuing global economic crisis. The phased transition of operations from Brunswick to its other plants is targeted to be completed over the next 12 months.
Cooper Industries makes electrical and electronic fuses, lighting fixtures, and explosion-proof electrical equipment.
