There's nothing like playing a game you love to help you get in shape. Volleyball can provide a great workout. It gets you outdoors during the summer months, and if the sun isn't shining you can take your game indoors too. On this Fit at Five Kelly LaBrecque shows us why this game can keep you on the ball to being in shape. (See video)

Sand volleyball challenges you balance differently from indoor volleyball. If the sand you deal with ankle stability, and hip stability. There are five games within a match which lasts about an hour and a half. The average person would burn anywhere from 700 to 1000 calories within that time!

You might think that you would mostly be working your arms during a game. Actually your quads, abs, and core are getting a great workout as well. Many of the moves use core strength. Perfect way to get those washboard abs.

Competitive sand volleyball is just finishing up, but the leagues will be heading indoors to play during the Fall. We have provided several links to where you could find a league to join near you, or just learn how to play for fun.
