VASSALBORO (NEWS CENTER) -- You might not think of your lawn mower as a motor vehicle, but it is. A man from Vassalboro learned that the hard way.
State police charged Danforth Ross, 51, with operating under the influence after several people flagged down a trooper to report that Ross was driving his riding lawn mower erratically down the road.
Police say Ross, whose driver's license is revoked, took the mower to a neighborhood store to buy beer. The trooper tracked the mower to the Country Store and saw Ross and another man come out of the store carrying two cases of beer and got back on the mower. Police say both men were intoxicated, but no charges were brought against the passenger.
