WEST NEWFIELD (NEWS CENTER) -- There has been a general store in the York County town of West Newfield since the 18-hundreds. But the West Newfield General Store will close next week unless the owners can find the money to keep it open. Tina Crowley-Colwell has owned the store since 2001 and noticed a drop in business starting last February. Since then she's been searching for a way to keep the store afloat. Crowley-Cowell has written to the state and the small business development center asking for help with no luck. When her own bank said she wouldn't be able to get a loan to cover her costs, she felt she had nothing left to do but close. "I'm here everyday. I don't go on vacation. It's been 5 years since I went on a vacation. But i'm not complaining about that. I'm willing to do the work. But I can't get the help." The West Newfield General Store is the hub of the town, and residents say when it goes they will lose some of the feeling of community. Store regulars are planning a fundraiser for the family for this weekend. Unless they get the money they need, the store will close next Tuesday
