Scarborough boy gets a boost from law enforcement collecting cans for Maine Med

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A young boy in Scarborough got a big surprise from law enforcement when they learned of a worthy cause.

Police say they learned "Sam" was collecting bottles and cans to donate funds to The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center.

With the help of the Scarborough Fire Department, they delivered several bags of recyclables and cash donations straight to Sam's door. They even let him hop into their fire truck.

By looking at the pictures they posted, it made his day.

"This young man has embraced the spirit of the holiday season, we are very proud of him!" They wrote in a Facebook post.
