Arrest made in 2015 motel robbery

SANFORD, Maine — An arrest was made Friday by Sanford Police detectives in connection with a robbery last November at the Super 8 motel in Sanford.

The suspect, initially described as a white male armed with a knife, entered the motel on the evening of Nov. 24, 2015, and demanded money from the clerk. The attempt failed and the suspect fled on foot.

Surveillance video was released, which subsequently went viral; but despite the notoriety, no arrests were made. Nearly 11 months later, following an extensive investigation, police identified a suspect.

Twenty-eight-year-old Ryan Harris of Sanford was taken into custody Friday. He is being held at the York County Jail on $25,000 bail.
