LEBANON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Sanford man was killed when his car struck a guardrail and plunged 30 feet into Little River in Lebanon.
State Police said 32-year-old Jeffrey Brunelle, of Sanford, died instantly when his car went over Little River Rd. Bridge and into the water at approximately 12:38 a.m. Friday morning.
Trooper John Darcy says Brunelle was speeding eastbound on Little River Rd. and attempting to pass several cars right before he lost control and went over the bridge.
Brunelle was the only person in the car and police say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Three wreckers were used to pull out the dismantled car parts. The vehicle is now out of the water.
