Rt. 11 reopened in Shapleigh

SHAPLEIGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Several York County agencies investigated what they called a "potential hazmat situation" in Shapleigh Saturday afternoon.

During the investigation, Route 11 was closed near Shapleigh Corner for about two hours.

York County Hazmat tested a powder that was found on a Red Box DVD. The DVD was in a vehicle, and authorities tested powder that was found both in the vehicle and on the DVD.

All tests came back negative for hazardous or toxic substances.

Local authorities that responded to the scene included York County Hazmat, York County Sheriff, Shapleigh Fire, Shapleigh Rescue, and Newfield Rescue.
