Rockland man charged for setting neighbor's home on fire

ROCKLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Rockland man has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to a neighbor's mobile home Tuesday morning, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.

42-year-old Timothy Barbeau has been charged with two counts of arson and one count of aggravated attempted murder in Rockland.

Officials say they responded to 23 Third Third Street in Rockland around 7 a.m. Tuesday. Three people were asleep inside the mobile home at the time, however no one was injured.

A neighbor tackled Barbeau to the ground at the scene of the fire and held him until officials arrived. He was taken to Knox County Jail.

Investigators say gasoline was used to start the fire which caused minor damage to the mobile home.
