Pre-fab home tumbles off flatbed into a pond

Truck carrying house goes in the water

BRIDGTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The waterfront view was a lot closer than ever intended for a new pre-fab home in Bridgton.

A tractor trailer hauling part of the home went off the Bridgton Causeway and into the water of Moose Pond on Wednesday.

The Cumberland County emergency dispatch center said the driver is okay, but the wreck will take a while to haul out of the water. Traffic on that section of Route 302 is down to one lane.

“We'll be able to hopefully lift it in one unit” said Bridgton Police officer Donald McCormick. “if not we're going to cut it in half and they're going to lift it out and take it down the street where they're going to crush it and dispose of it and transport it by dump trucks.”

McCormick says they're still trying to figure out how the truck ended up on the guardrail, which then caused the load to shift and tossed the entire rig into the pond.
