Fire at Forest Ave market displaces several residents

Moran's Market fire 9-11

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Residents from four apartments were displaced late Sunday night after a fire broke out at a structure in Portland's Riverton neighborhood that includes Moran's Market.

Crews swiftly extinguished the blaze on Forest Avenue, containing it within 15 minutes.

Portland FD Deputy Chief John Everett said all residents made it out safely, though one was working with officials to find a place to relocate to.

He said the fire appeared to have started on the structure's bottom floor.

The cause was not immediately known.
