PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - It was the final flight for an Air National Guard pilot from Gorham..... and what a crowd that turned out to witness it.

It was right around three O'clock when three F-15 fighter jets whizzed over the Portland Jetport. One of them was flown by Lt. Col. Eric Samuelson, who is retiring after 24 years of military service.
He was allowed to select the location of his last training mission and he chose his home state of Maine.

"This is my favorite mission in the world. To get out and be over my home state, to fly and approach at my home airport", Samuelson said.

When he is not flying jets, Samuelson oversees the congregation at The Rock Church in Scarborough as Pastor.
Today, Dozens of church members turned out for his final fly over.

"We are very much a family and want to family has a success or transition you're there to support them", said friend Sue Davis.
