Deering neighborhood of Portland seeing burglary spike

 

 

 

 

 

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Portland Police Department is advising residents that live in the Deering section of the city about an unusual spike in residential burglaries.

There has been a total of seven houses that have been broken into and burglarized. 

 

Crimes occurred on:

  • Florida Avenue
  • Alpine Road
  • Brook Road
  • Bartlett Street
  • Edwards Street
  • Virginia Street

During almost all occurrences of burglary victims were not at home. The break-ins happened during the past two weekends, on or about, October 8th and October 15th.

If you live in, or near, affected areas police advise people to put lights on timers that activate at night, check the locking mechanisms for windows and doors on lower floors and check video surveillance equipment often.
