Portland organ donor to be honored on Ross Parade Float

Organ Donor Memorial for Andrew Campbell

WESTBROOK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Friends and family came together at the Brea Lu Cafe this afternoon to honor the life of Andrew Campbell, an organ donor who passed away following a severe head injury.

Campbell saved the lives of four individuals, including a 55 year old man named Patrick Sullivan who was in dire need of a heart transplant. In the ten years since the surgery, Sullivan was able to see his son marry and also welcomed a grandchild into the world. Campbell also donated two kidneys and his liver.

"There aren't words enough to express my gratitude to the Campbell family, because I wouldn't be here today. It's as simple as that."

Andrew's family and friends offered tribute today before putting the finishing touches on a floral portrait (called a floragraph) which will appear on the Donate Life float to honor the lives of organ tissue donors on January 1st, 2018.

If you are interested in becoming an organ donor, you can go to registerme.org or visit your local motor vehicle office.
