Poll machines causing issues in Woolwich, West Bath

WOOLWICH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The one polling machine in Woolwich froze up this morning causing delays.

Dave Kloberdans is the poll warden in Woolwich.

He told NEWS CENTER the poll machine froze up a little after 9:00 a.m. Kloberdans says they called the state to help figure out the problem but there was a delay in finding someone who was available and able to help.

Kloberdans says nearly 60 people were waiting to cast their ballots. Kloberdans says he spoke to the crowd, explained the situation and offered that if they did not want to wait, they could leave their ballots in a box and he would treat them as absentee ballots.

Kloberdans says all waiting voters decided to leave their ballots with him. He says by 2:00 p.m. all the waiting ballots were fed into the machine. Dave says the box of ballots never left his side.

There was another delay in West Bath today. Registrar Carly Perry says for a brief time the poll machine was not recognizing ballots. Perry says the issue was corrected in a short time.
