Police arrest transient for assault and robbery

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police arrest 18-year-old Shane Cote for robbery this morning.

According to South Portland Police, Cote is suspected of assaulting and robbing a 57-year-old man who was walking to work on Q Street in South Portland this morning. Cote, a transient, fled the scene on foot.

A Portland Police K-9 unit located Cote near the intersection of Cottage Road, Ocean and E Streets. He was arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he is being held on $1,000 bail.

Police have not yet released the identity or condition of the victim.
