Police arrest man after standoff in Chesterville

CHESTERVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State Police arrested a man in Chesterville after a standoff, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Steve McCausland.

Police arrested 41-year-old Vance Billings of Carthage around 7 p.m. Saturday after he came out of the mobile home he had previously refused to leave.

Police said Billings was staying as a guest at the mobile home, but then assaulted the man who lives there.

Billings had a pellet gun and crossbow, but did not use them.

Police said Billings faces charges including criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, and violating the conditions of his release.
