One dead, two seriously injured in Hermon car crash

HERMON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said one person died and two others were seriously hurt in a two-car crash in Hermon Monday.

Deputies responded to the accident about 5:30 p.m. on Route 2 near the Carmel line. They found Karen Worcester, 60, of Carmel, deceased on the scene. They said she was traveling toward Carmel in a 2012 For Fusion when a 2003 Jeep Liberty crossed the center line and hit Worcester's vehicle. The driver of the Jeep Liberty, Rebecca Chasse, 52, of Carmel said she was distracted by an argument she was having with her 29-year-old daughter and passenger, Rachelle Welch.

Deputies said the accident remains under investigation.
