MONTVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Mount View High School in Thorndike brought in counselors to give students an outlet for their grief over the death of a classmate in a car crash.
The Waldo County Sheriff's Office said 16-year-old Riley Boulay from Liberty was driving a Volkswagen Beetle to school on Wednesday morning. Police attributed his loss of control over the car to the speed at which he was traveling. Near the intersection with Randlett and Morse Roads, the car veered off North Mountain Valley Highway in Montville and crashed into the woods trees.
Police said several people in the area tried to help Boulay, but his his injuries were too severe and he died at the scene.
Counseling services at Mount View High School were made available to anyone from the community in need of them. After-school activities were canceled Wednesday, but counselors remained on hand long after classes ended until 7 p.m.
