Man arrested after reportedly firing off shot gun in S. Portland

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A 28-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening after police say he fired off several shot gun rounds in South Portland.

No one was injured in the incident.

South Portland Police Department said dispatch received multiple calls of gunshots and car break-ins in the area of Greenbelt Walkway near Mildred Street in South Portland around 8:32 p.m.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found shotgun casings and heard additional fire. They found Terry Tucker nearby.

Police say Tucker put down the shotgun but refused to cooperate further. Tucker was taken into custody by officers "utilizing vehicles and tactical shields." 

Terry Tucker, who police say has no known local address, was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and charged the following counts:

Reckless Conduct with a Firearm – Class D misdemeanor with a Class C enhancement
Burglary to Motor Vehicle by force – Class C felony – Two counts
Threatening display of a Firearm.– Class D misdemeanor
Violation of conditions of release from prior charges (bail) – Two counts
Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person (felon) – Class C
Possession of a schedule W drug – Class D
Theft of a firearm – Class B felony
