Maine (NEWS CENTER) Democrats and even Republicans are calling for attorney general Jeff Sessions to step down due to ties with Russia during President Trump's election.
The Justice Department has confirmed Sessions talked twice with Russia's ambassador to the United States during the presidential campaign, a seeming contradiction to sworn statements he gave to Congress.
As attorney general, Sessions oversees the f-b-i investigation of alleged ties between Russia and the president.
Both Republicans and Democrats are calling for him to either step down or recuse himself from the official investigation. A white house spokeswoman says Sessions meetings with Russian's ambassador were in AN official capacity and entirely consistent with his testimony.
