Maine reacts to deaths via social media

(NEWS CENTER) – Maine's first responders took to social media outlets Wednesday evening offering condolences to the Boston Fire Department after two firefighters lost their lives.

Two firefighters lost their lives battling a nine-alarm blaze at 298 Beacon St. in Boston Wednesday.

People also expressed their condolences on Facebook and Twitter.

Patricia Gross-Leach wrote, "My husband is a firefighter and I pray for his safety everyday. My heart goes out the wives and family for your loss and I'm sending blessings your way."

Beverly Collins pointed out the importance of supporting the whole Boston Fire Department.

"I also want to pray for the rest of the firefighters," Collins wrote. "It isn't easy being a survivor."

Many others wrote "Rest in Peace" and thanked the two men for the "ultimate sacrifice."
