Maine employees out in the cold after bomb threat evacuates office building

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Dozens of Maine employees were out in the cold Thursday night after police received a bomb threat for a building that houses a local news station.

Portland Police Lt. Hutchinson said around 11:00 p.m. a caller made a bomb threat to the building at 81 Northport Drive that houses WGME, Channel 13 offices and an L.L. Bean Call Center.

State Police also received the threat for the building.

Hutchinson said police searched the building with two police dogs looking for bombs but nothing was found.

Employees were let back in the building a little before midnight. Hutchinson says they believe it was just a "prank" call.

An employee tell NEWS CENTER that at first people thought it was a drill but quickly realized there were too many police officers for it to be a drill.
