Lewiston PD searching for man who opened fire on Sabattus Street

LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police say a man on foot fired gunshots at a car on Sabattus Street in Lewiston Friday. 

The Lewiston Police Department says they received information that a black male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, fired 4 to 5 shots with a handgun at a car, which was stopped in traffic on Sabattus Street at approximately 9:52 A.M.

Police say the shooter was last seen walking up Howe Street on November 4, 2016. 

The victim who was driving the vehicle came into the police station to report the incident. Investigators say it appears the victim and suspect know each other and have had previous altercations.

Police are investigating this shooting and have collected evidence at the scene and from the victim’s vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Tom Murphy at 207-513-3138 ext. 3352.
