Lewiston man to serve 20 years for child pornography

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from Lewiston was sentenced to 20 years in prison today for transporting child pornography.

Fredrick Butler, Jr., pleaded guilty on Dec. 20, 2013. According to U.S. Attorney records, Butler sent an email to an individual in Oregon with 18 images, most of which depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit content, in April of 2013. Butler was also convicted in federal court for receiving child pornography in 2001. He was also convicted of gross sexual assault in 1995.

After he serves 20 years in prison, he will be on supervised release for the rest of his life.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
