FRYEBURG, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – Fryeburg Police say they have arrested a Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts man with felony possession of cocaine and paraphernalia.
Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin says Vaughan C. Renaud of Massachusetts was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday night and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Schedule 'W' Drug and Possession/Use of Drug Paraphernalia, both felonies.
Potvin says Renaud was found to be in possession of 14 grams of cocaine at his campsite along the Saco River.
Officials say Renaud has already posted $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Oxford County Superior Court on September 12th.
Chief Potvin applauded the efforts of his staff in the arrest. "I commend the officers involved in this investigation for their proactive patrol tactics. We dedicate additional officers to patrol the Saco River which ensures the safety of the residents and visitors so they have a pleasant experience while camping along the river" Potvin said.
