N.H. man accused of Fryeburg robbery

*UPDATE* - Police have arrested 36-year-old John Chilafoe of Conway in connection with the convenience store robbery in Fryeburg, according to Fryeburg PD.

Police say Chilafoe was taken into custody without incident at his home in North Conway.

Chilafoe is charged with Class B robbery and fugitive from justice.

"I am pleased we were able to bring the suspect to justice so quickly," said Fryeburg PD Chief Joshua Potvin. "The clerk made an excellent eye witness and was able to provide key descriptors of the suspect and his vehicle."

FRYEBURG, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Police in Fryeburg are asking the public for help as they search for a male suspect who they say robbed a convenience store Sunday afternoon.

Police describe the man as being white with missing teeth and a scraggly beard, wearing a brimmed beanie hat, jeans and a heavy jacket.

Police are looking for a two-tone silver Mercury Mountaineer/Ford Explorer-style vehicle with a 'Boston' sticker in the rear window and N.H. registration. They say it was last seen traveling along Route 302 towards Conway.

The robbery occurred at the Mobil 'On the Run' convenience store and gas station on Main Street.

Police say the suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
