Fourth annual mud run benefits USM students

GORHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Hundreds of runners participated in the fourth annual Into the Mud Challenge on Sunday.

Runners were encouraged to dress in costumers for the 2 and a half mile event, which was filled with a number of obstacles around Gorham Middle School. Several superheroes made an appearance, including the Ghost Busters.

The race ended with a giant mud puddle that participants jumped, slid, and even cannon-balled into.

All proceeds from the race benefit the USM Sports Management Scholarship fund.
