Four-mile police chase ends peacefully in Sanford

SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police say a four-mile chase ended peacefully in Sanford, Sunday morning.

Maine State Police say at approximately 10:21 a.m., 23-year-old Sean-Michael Grenier, of Sanford, was arrested after what police call a high-risk stop on North Avenue by Trooper Adam Schmidt.

Tr. Schmidt is a member of the PACE Team(Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement) and was attempting to stop a 2002 Volkswagen GTI for a number of motor vehicle violations.  A car chase ensued until the car stopped on Riverbank Court in Springvale.  

Police said Grenier’s license was under 5 active suspensions, he was on bail conditions, had a warrant for an unpaid fine and his vehicle was unregistered. 

Grenier is being held without bail at the York County jail and facing the following charges:  Eluding an officer, operating after suspensions and violating conditions of bail.
