Fire destroys home, kills family dog in Kennebunkport

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A house fire Monday caused "extensive" damage to a home on the 100 block of Wildes District Road in Kennebunkport, killing a dog that was trapped by the flames.

According to the Kennebunkport Fire Department, the family was not home when the fire started around noon.

Both the Kennebunk and Arundel fire departments assisted with putting out the fire.

Acting Fire Chief Jim Burrows told NEWS CENTER that a fire marshal had been called to investigate the cause of the fire.
