OAKFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — State police are still investigating the murder of 31-year-old Douglas Morin Jr.
The victim's father, Douglas Morin Sr., spoke to NEWS CENTER Tuesday about his late son. He recalled saying goodbye to his son as he left the house early Sunday morning to run a few errands on his day off.
After a brief encounter with police in the past, Morin Sr. said his son got back on the right track thanks to his new job as a truck driver.
Although the family worried about his safety on the job, they did not expect the last time they would ever see him would be on his day-off.
As noon approached on Sunday, police responded to a call in Sherman where Morin Jr.'s body was found in a car located on the remote PD Road.
Morin's father said the entire community loved his son and could not imagine that anyone would ever hurt him.
Morin left behind a 3-year-old niece, who family members said were the best of friends.
The homicide-ruled case is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
