El Faro's VDR information to be released by NTSB

NTSB plans to release transcript of El Faro VDR.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWS CENTER) -- The National Transportation Safety Board announced they would open the docket for its investigation into last October's sinking of the El Faro.

The El Faro, with four Mainers abord, sank during Hurricane Joaquin in October 2015. All 33 crew members wee lost at sea.

El Faro's voyage data recorder was recovered this past August and has been inspected since.

The NTSB has been developing a detailed transcript of all discernible sounds from that day.

A press release from the NTSB states, 'The docket will contain only factual information about weather, engineering, survival factors, and data from the El Faro’s voyage data recorder. The docket will also contain the detailed transcript from the voyage data recorder’s audio recording.'

A media briefing will be held December 13th to detail what was found in the data and recordings.
