TRENTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Two women are dead after a car crash on Tuesday morning. The accident happened at 8:40 AM along Rt 3.

Police said a car with two female occupants was traveling south bound when the vehicle crossed over the center line. The driver of the construction truck swerved to avoid the car. The two vehicles then hit head-on in the south bound lane.

The women inside of the car were both pronounced dead on the scene. The male driver of the truck was sent to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Police said he did not appear to have any injuries.

The names of those involved have not been released.

The Hancock County Sheriff said the road has been on their watch list all summer.

“This road has just been bumper to bumper all summer long with Acadia and all the good weather, we’ve been fortunate enough that more accident haven’t happened. Have your seatbelts on, make sure you’re not texting and driving, all of the kinds of things that we encourage people to do,” said Scott Kane.
