Coast Guard responds to collapsed pier in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Crews from the United States Coast Guard responded to reports of a collapsed pier at Bay Point Wednesday.

The pier collapsed Monday night, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. No injuries and no pollution has been reported because of the collapse.

U.S. Coast Guard crews from Boothbay Harbor and South Portland are working with the Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection and local agencies to determine severity of the incident. They are also looking into the potential for pollution because of the pier collapse.
