SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A clothing drive was held today at the Thornton Academy gymnasium to help support Jacob Thompson's family with medical and funeral costs.
Jacob passed away from cancer a few weeks ago and received national attention after he requested Christmas cards for an early Christmas with his family.
The drive was hosted by Samantha Mitchell whose son attended the same school as Jacob before he passed away. Mitchell reached out to the community for donations and also held a raffle with a few items which even included a red claws basketball that was signed by all of the players.
All proceeds go to Jacob's parents. and his father will be donating his portion to one of Jacob's friends, who also has cancer. Mitchell helped raise over 1000 dollars.
