Cheerleading Coach has first appearance in Portland Court

Perry Court Update

Portland, Maine (NEWS CENTER) A cheerleading coach at Bonny Eagle High School made his first court appearance today. He's accused of having illegal sexual contact with a student. 21-year-old Nicholas Perry is facing charges of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual conduct. Perry was charged after police say the school district in Standish notified them of a possible relationship between Perry and a student.  Investigators say while the contact between the two did not happen during a school function or on school grounds - Perry was charged because as a cheering coach, he has disciplinary authority over the student.
