Woman seriously injured in Naples crash

NAPLES, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — It took rescue crews nearly an hour to remove a woman from her car Saturday afternoon after she crashed on Route 11, or Casco Road, in Naples.

Police said 48-year-old Ruth Bliss of Casco crossed the center line and struck several trees on the side of the road.

Her vehicle caught fire but was quickly extinguished.

Once out of the vehicle, Bliss was flown to Central Maine Medical Center with "serious traumatic injuries."

Route 11 was closed for reconstruction but has since been reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
