Bulldozer arson investigation nets third arrest

SANDY RIVER PLANTATION, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Another arrest makes three people now facing charges of setting a bulldozer on fire.

The latest suspect to be taken into custody is 23-year-old Michael Stanley of Gardner, Mass. Police from his local department arrested him last Wednesday. He is charged as a fugitive from justice and remains in jail as he awaits extradition to Maine.

Maine Dept. of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said Stanley had a part in torching a Caterpillar bulldozer in Sandy River Plantation, near Rangeley. Hunters found the burned-out wreck in a swamp on November 14. Investigators estimate the damage to the bulldozer at $100,000.

Investigators made two previous arrests in the case, 37-year-old Alexander Allan and 18-year-old Devon Clark. Both men live in Dallas Plantation, and both are charged with arson.
