MSAD #51 / Cumberland Center boil order lifted

UPDATED 11/10 at 7:00 p.m.: The boil water order for areas around Cumberland Center has been lifted. Normal water related activity can resume.

 

CUMBERLAND CENTER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Classes at MSAD #51 are canceled Thursday, November 10 after a water main break on Winn Road caused a boil water order.

The order is in effect until further notice for the following areas:

-Blanchard Road from Main Street to #127 Blanchard Road and all side streets
-Main Street from Blanchard Road North to Greely Road and all side streets
-Greely Road Extension from Main Street #374 Greely Road Extension and all side streets
-Greely Road SE 6200' from Main Street to #212 Greely Road and all side streets

As a precaution, consumers are directed to boil water for 1 minute at a rolling boil before
-drinking
-making ice cubes
-washing food
-brushing teeth
-or in any other activity involving consumption of water

Boiling water kills bacteria and other organisms that could potentially be in the water.
