Benefit for Hollis horsebreeders after house fire

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Horsebreeders Marc and Peggy Tardiff may have lost almost all of their posessions in a house fire last month, but they gained a community of support.

Monday night, a crowd of people packed the Scarborough Downs Clubhouse for a benefit for the Tardiff's.

Marc and Peggy are well-known horse breeders, and have some horses race at Scarborough Downs.

Last month, a fire destroyed their Hollis home. They lost several pets, but were able to save their horses.

According to a friend, they didn't even have a jacket to wear out in the cold.

"Ever since the fire, the phone has been ringing off the hook," said Peggy Tardiff. "It's humbling."
