Letters, gifts and birthday wishes pour in for Bangor teen with autism

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Hallee Sorenson, the Bangor teen who sat all alone on her 18th birthday party, is now celebrating her 19th birthday with thousands of people all around the world.

At the beginning of June, Hallee's cousin posted a photo of the sweet teen sitting alone at a Bangor bowling alley. The post asked for one thing, birthday cards.

"Hallee is an amazing person-a person I am proud to be related to. She is also a person who just happens to have Autism," her cousin wrote.

Ever since that photo went viral, Hallee and her family have been receiving numerous cards and gifts for the soon-to-be 19-year-old.

“It's absolutely nuts to read the comments to perfect strangers, perfect strangers who want to do something for your kid. How do you say thank you for that” said Allyson Sorenson the mother of Hallee.

According to Buzzfeed, after no one showed up to Hallee's party, they all left the bowling alley, donated the food to a local homeless shelter and went home.

A Facebook page set up by Hallee's mother documents Hallee's birthday journey.

According to the page, Hallee has received letters from Germany, England and beyond!

There's still time to send Hallee a birthday card. You can send all letters to the address printed below.

Address:
