Bangor street closed for police situation

*UPDATE* 11/1 3:30 p.m. – Union Street in Bangor around the area of 3rd Street was shut down around noon as police responded to a call from a distraught man in an apartment in the area.

Several people were evacuated from the apartment building near Union Street while police spoke with the man.

The standoff ended at about 2 p.m. when the man gave himself up and was arrested.

The road was shut down for around two hours.

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police are responding to a situation in Bangor that led them to close a section of Union Street.

Cruisers are parked across both lanes of the street to keep traffic away from a certain area.
