Baby, child and mom assaulted by mother's boyfriend, police say

UNION, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State Police say two small children and their mom were assaulted by the mother's boyfriend in Union, Maine on Saturday.

Detectives were called after an 18-month-old girl was taken to PenBay Medical Center with a broken arm.  After investigating, police discovered that the baby's five-year-old sister and mother were also assaulted by the boyfriend. 

Police said 27-year-old old Jessie Tirrell assaulted his girlfriend and her two small children at the home he shares with them on Searsmont Road.  He is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault, and one counts each of domestic violence assault and unlawful sexual contact. 

Tirell is being held at the Knox County Jail.
